Potato activity on digestive system {chronological}

POTATO ACTIVITY
First, we took a straw and took a piece of grated potato and tried to take the grated potato out of the other end. Next, we put pieces of potatoes in a bowl and filled it half way with water. Then, we put the lid of the bowl and started shaking the bowl after some time a bit of froth started getting collected on the top of the bowl. After that, we took pieces of grated potato and again filled it half way with water. Next, we shook the bowl again and this time we saw that there was more froth collected on the top, it was also dissolved. Then, we took a big strainer and strained all the water from the bowl into a glass. After that, we took a small strainer and strained out the remaining juice.
From observing this activity I understood that this was how our digestive system worked. The potato was our food. The straw was our food pipe. The big pieces the not properly chewed food. The grated pieces properly chewed food. The big strainer the small intestine and the small strainer the large intestine.

  1. This is a good description Tushita and I'm pleased that by doing the experiment, reflecting upon it and then writing about it, that you now understand how the digestive system works. can you think of any other way of doing the experiment? Mr James

    I'm glad you are putting in the commas in the right places now.
    Short and sweet!
